Palin drives me crazy

If you don't know who Sarah Palin is I would give anything to switch places with you. I can't turn on the TV or read Reddit for any prolonged period of time without being exposed to Palin. Her contrived folksy common-man attitude combined with her anti-intellectualism and disingenuous rabble-rousing is absolutely what we don't need any more of. She drives me absolutely crazy. She can't even name a publication she reads; That's a barely passable level of literary prowess for a highschool-er, let alone an ex-governor.

How did she get away with leaving the position of governor of Alaska (due to impending scandal), and turn that move into a book deal about being a rogue patriot? Her anti-intellectual attitude and doublespeak seem to make her nonsense transparent to those who are politically aware. Many of her supporters, however, have absolutely no idea where she stands on many issues, so who knows where she'd go with any free reign in a governmental position. Her supporters don't, but that doesn't seem to be the point.

I just had to write something about this woman, because she drives me crazy. I disagree with pretty much everything she stands for. I think "Drill baby drill" is deplorable, and her ideas (or lack thereof) toward the environment (or any issue requiring formulating an information based opinion) is thinly disguised through generalizations and vague non-answers. I think the anti-intellectual sentiment evident in today's America is our worst problem. We need to start idolizing Einstein, Escher, and Carl Segan, rather than Palin, Tiger, and Taylor Swift. (I only add Tiger because i'd rather see people idolizing intellectuals rather then talented performers. Golf is cool, but advancing technology and the like is far cooler.)

Here's a few quotes which I lifted from some Googling. If you haven't seen these on the net already, your brain may explode. Or implode. Proceed with caution.

"The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their 'level of productivity in society,' whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil."

"I think on a national level your Department of Law there in the White House would look at some of the things that we've been charged with and automatically throw them out." --Referring to a department that does not exist while attempting to explain why as president she wouldn't be subjected to the same ethics investigations that compelled her to resign as governor of Alaska

"As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where– where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border." Explaining why Alaska's proximity to Russia gives her foreign policy experience.

"Our opponent though, is someone who sees America it seems as being so imperfect that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country."

I'd compile more quotes, but she makes my head hurt. Google "Palin Quotes" for some more gold, or radioactive waste. Whichever way you like to look at it.
